Job summary

Gilead Sciences Inc. seeks a Director, Data/AI Product Owner (Research) to lead AI/data product strategy across Discovery and Translation Sciences.

You will define the portfolio vision, translate research needs into a clear roadmap, and drive AI-enabled reporting and analytics across multiple stages of drug development. You will report to the Senior Director, Data & AI, oversee a portfolio of AI products, and guide cross-functional teams to deliver high-value solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's with 12+ years in a relevant field as a baseline expectation.
• Deep understanding of drug discovery and development.
• Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager translating business needs into scalable data/AI solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management and influence, especially with senior researchers.
• Solid business and financial acumen to evaluate ROI and long-term investments.
• Knowledge of data/AI architecture concepts and discussing trade-offs with engineering teams.
• Familiarity with modern data platforms like Databricks and AWS.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum with metrics-driven prioritization and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead product strategy and multi-year roadmap for AI-enabled research capabilities.
• Partner with senior Research leaders to identify high-impact AI opportunities and business cases.
• Lead and mentor Product Owners and Product Managers; prioritize backlog based on value and feasibility.
• Establish and scale a product operating model for consistent delivery.
• Translate objectives into clear requirements and backlog items, considering data architecture and scalability.
• Own the end-to-end product vision and roadmap for AI-enabled research decision-support.
• Define and track success metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Drive change management and user adoption, including UX design, training, and communications.
• Oversee vendor/partner strategy for product support with IT and Procurement.
