Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Tampa, FL is seeking an Engineering Director to spearhead Data & AI initiatives within the TWCS Technology Organization.

You will craft the technology roadmap, lead expert engineers, and partner with senior business and technology leaders to deliver scalable data infrastructure and AI-enabled solutions. The role requires a strong data engineering background, extensive leadership experience, and a track record of delivering high-velocity, quality software in financial services.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering and technology leadership.
• 8-10+ years of direct managerial and people leadership experience.
• Strong technical leader with hands-on engineering management experience.
• Deep expertise in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, AI Engineering and transaction processing systems at scale.
• Extensive experience with financial products and payment systems.
• Expertise in Java, Microservices, distributed systems, Kafka, and cloud-native development.
• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Hadoop, Spark, and streaming tech (Kafka).
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and their data ecosystems.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development and GenAI use cases.
• Knowledge of ML, LLMs, RAG, LangGraph, LangChain, and MLOps.
• Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies.
• Experience with project management and collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop multiple engineering teams to achieve goals and enforce best practices.
• Develop a vision for team structure and resource alignment to maximize impact.
• Prepare and present regular team and project reviews to senior management.
• Drive system architecture design and development; work with system end-users to improve deliverables.
• Oversee budgeting, planning, policy formation, and long-term strategy input.
• Ensure change control and regulatory reporting requirements are met.
• Research issues, provide recommendations, and escalate to senior management as needed.
• Manage disaster recovery plans and test them; authorize new applications.
• Define and implement data governance, security, and privacy policies.
• Drive data technology strategy and target state architecture.
• Champion data & AI engineering best practices across CI/CD, data quality, testing, observability, and code review.
• Partner with leadership, product managers, data scientists, and analysts to develop a long-term data strategy.
