Job summary

OATS from AARP in New York seeks a Director, Curriculum to oversee Senior Planet educational programs—courses, lectures, workshops, video content, and self-paced trainings. You will translate organizational priorities into scalable offerings for both virtual and in-person audiences, and partner with the Data Team to measure engagement and impact.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years in nonprofit education or a related field, strong leadership, and proven ability to manage

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of professional experience, preferably within a non-profit setting.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
  • Prior experience teaching adults and /or older adults is essential, with a solid understanding of adult learning theory
  • Superior communication skills and the ability to plan, delegate, and supervise high-profile projects
  • Excellent research skillswith the ability to create clear and concise presentations and learner materials
  • Proficient in InDesign

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, and continuous improvement of Senior Planet educational programs.
  • Develops annual education plans, content priorities, and resource allocations aligned with organizational goals, audience needs, and funding requirements.
  • Maintains variety and relevance of content by staying abreast of tech trends, including emerging and mainstream consumer-level devices and applications.
  • Oversees the full curriculum lifecycle, including needs assessment, instructional design, content development, implementation, evaluation, and updates.
  • Identifies opportunities to scale educational reach through new formats, technologies, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts, internal stakeholders, and external partners to develop accurate, relevant, and high-quality educational programs for older adults.
  • Leverages participant feedback, research, and learning analytics to identify opportunities for innovation, content expansion, and enhanced learner engagement.

Overview

OATS from AARP helps older adults learn to use and leverage technology to transform their lives and their communities.Through its flagship program, Senior Planet, OATS works closely with older adults to create extraordinary experiences in-person and online.As one of AARP's charitable affiliates, the mission of OATS from AARP is "to harness the power of technology to change the way we age."

The Director, Curriculum oversees the development of all Senior Planet educational programs, including courses, lectures, workshops, video content, and self-paced trainings. Working closely with the Program Operations team, this role is responsible for translating organizational priorities, emerging tech trends, and participant needs into scalable educational offerings for virtual and in-person audiences. The Director also works closely with the Data Team to track the impact and engagements of educational programs.

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
