Job summary

Aurex Group is expanding its North America operations and is seeking a Senior Crude Trader to lead the buildout of a new Houston desk. The role combines senior trading with leadership responsibilities to shape crude strategy and risk across the US team.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years of oil trading experience, including futures, options, and cleared swaps, and a proven ability to hire, mentor, and drive results in a fast-paced environment. This is a high-impact, leadership-focused position.

Aurex Group is currently working with a global commodity trading house looking to build out a new Houston office.

As such they are looking for an experienced Senior Crude Trader to lead the effort and desk buildout here in North America. This is a newly created desk which plugs into an existing global trading platform with teams located across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

This role encompasses both Trading and leadership.

Overview

• 15+ years of oil trading experience across futures, options, and cleared swaps.
• Candidates must have a detailed understanding of macro crude oil supply and demand dynamics
• Interest and ability to build a team and crude strategy from scratch
• This person will help drive the US buildout of oil trading desk
• This is a management role where the person will both lead a team while also managing their own prop
• The successful candidate will be responsible for managing risk across the US team
• Hire, develop, and retain more junior staff
• Team player, goal-oriented, and excellent communication skills
