The role
A director-level creative technology role in the Technology department at Code and Theory, a digital-first creative agency, based in New York or remote. The job centres on automating 2D and 3D content production: mapping how content is made today, building pipelines that connect creative software, AI tools and asset management systems, and advising senior people on content technology.
What you'll do
- Work with agency and client teams to map current content production workflows and find where technology and data flow could be improved
- Build workflows that automate 2D and/or 3D content production
- Develop automated motion graphics pipelines for short campaign video loops that reframe footage intelligently across 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 and swap in localised assets for global markets
- Build custom automation links using Model Context Protocol (MCP), ComfyUI node graphs and AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code, connecting 3D software to Adobe Firefly Services and older digital asset management (DAM) systems
- Assess and recommend AI tools and other APIs for automating content production
- Work directly with Art Directors and 3D Designers so automated pipelines keep precise specular control and strict brand visual fidelity
About you
- Hands-on experience with Blender, Substance 3D or Cinema 4D, including procedural shader graphs, lighting set-ups and render engines such as Cycles, Octane or Redshift
- Experience scripting After Effects (ExtendScript or Expressions) or building procedural video pipelines for aspect-ratio reframing and batch rendering of multiple localised versions
- Practical experience integrating creative and content APIs, in particular Adobe APIs, ComfyUI workflows, local generative models and MCP bridges
- Experience advising senior creative, agency and marketing executives on content technology, automation, pipelines and AI for content
- Familiarity with the wider content supply chain and content technology landscape, including project management, data management, content optimisation, enterprise DAM webhooks and cloud API token management
- Nice to have: agentic coding and Python experience
The details
- Salary: $160,000 - $225,000 (the range spans multiple levels)
