Job summary

X-energy LLC is seeking a Corporate Communications Director to drive internal and external communications aligned with business objectives. You will advise senior leaders, shape corporate narratives, manage media relations, and oversee key announcements.

The role requires strategic thinking, strong editorial instincts, and proactive opportunity identification. Location is in Gaithersburg, MD with a schedule of 4 in-office days per week; travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, business, or related field.
  • Seven or more years of experience developing and implementing communication plans, corporate communications, media relationships, community or stakeholder engagement, or public affairs.
  • Understanding of best‑practice public relations programs and communication approaches.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think both creatively and strategically.
  • Ability to translate complex technical content into clear and engaging narratives for varied audiences.
  • Experience working with social and traditional media.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate communications disciplines, including media relations, issues management, external engagement, and public affairs.

Job Description X-energy LLC is hiring a Corporate Communications Director.

This position is responsible for developing and implementing X-energy’s internal and external communications strategies in support of the company’s business objectives, reputation, and growth. The role serves as a strategic communications advisor to senior leaders and leads the development of corporate narratives, executive communications, media relations, issues and reputation management, and major company announcements. The role is expected to bring sound judgment, strong editorial instincts, and a proactive approach to identifying communications opportunities, while helping measure and continuously improve the effectiveness of X-energy’s communications programs.


Job Profile

Tasks/Responsibilities:


  • Lead media relations strategy, including proactive engagement with national, trade, business, energy, and local media; identification of high‑value storytelling opportunities; and development of long‑term relationships with key journalists and key stakeholders.

  • Lead issues and reputation management efforts, including monitoring emerging developments, assessing communications risks and opportunities, and developing timely response strategies.

  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to senior leaders, providing counsel on corporate positioning, executive visibility, major announcements, stakeholder communications, and emerging reputational issues.

  • Lead communications planning and execution for significant corporate, commercial, regulatory, operational, and organizational developments, ensuring appropriate sequencing and alignment across internal and external audiences.

  • Build and maintain working relationships with relevant industry stakeholders, media contacts, trade press, and local community outlets to support communication efforts.

  • Support placement of X‑energy content in appropriate news and industry publications.

  • Serve as a spokesperson for X‑energy with media and external stakeholders, as appropriate.

  • Partner with Brand Marketing to ensure corporate communications and brand initiatives reinforce a consistent company narrative and strengthen awareness and reputation.

  • Provide communications support for operating units, Business Development, Operations, Government Affairs, stakeholder/rightsholder engagement, and company publications.

  • Maintain effective communication channels with strategic partners, subcontractors, customers, suppliers, think tanks, and relevant industry groups.

  • Coordinate subcontractors or marketing partners supporting Corporate Communications needs.

  • Develop measurement frameworks to evaluate communications effectiveness, media visibility, message penetration, reputation, and audience engagement, and use insights to continually refine strategy.

  • Manage external agencies, consultants, and communications partners as needed, ensuring high‑quality work, effective use of resources, and alignment with company priorities.

  • Support and provide direction to communications team members and cross‑functional contributors, helping establish consistent standards, processes, and best practices across the organization.

  • Perform additional duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, business, or related field.

Location: 9801 Washingtonian Blvd, Gaithersburg, MD


Work Schedule: 4 days a week in office


Travel Expectations: Up to 10% as needed


Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday


Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X‑energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives. Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual’s qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The compensation for this position is comprised of base salary plus an annual short term incentive which is variable, based on scope of responsibility and achievement of goals.


The salary range for this position is: $192,375 - $218,250.
