Job summary

UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh seeks an Assistant/Associate Director or Director-level Geneticist to lead the Clinical Genomics Laboratory, oversee CLIA/CAP compliance, assay development, and case sign-out while maintaining an ABMGG certification.

This role blends clinical leadership with research and teaching at the University of Pittsburgh, collaborating across departments to advance sequencing, panels, carrier screening, and pharmacogenomics.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD or DO in a relevant clinical laboratory or genetics field.
• ABMGG board certified or eligible in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics.
• Minimum 3 years clinical laboratory experience required.
• Expertise in exome/genome analysis and interpretation of NGS data.
• Excellent written and oral communication; leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with LIMS and genomic data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and compliance oversight for UCGL.
• Oversee case sign-out, assay development, and education/training.
• Collaborate with clinicians and university partners on service development.
• Maintain ABMGG certification and stay current with advances in clinical genomics.
• Ensure CLIA/CAP compliance and QA/QI program oversight.
