Job summary

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh seeks a PhD/MD/DO Geneticist at Assistant/Associate Director or Director level to lead the Clinical Genomics Laboratory. You will evaluate and report genetics cases, oversee procedures, and mentor staff in a cutting-edge molecular testing setting.

Responsibilities include strategic leadership, assay development, clinician consultation, and teaching across undergraduate and graduate levels, in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh.

Qualifications

• PhD/MD/DO in Clinical Laboratory Science, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field.
• ABMGG board certified or board eligible in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics.
• Minimum 3 years clinical laboratory experience.
• Expertise in exome/genome analysis and interpretation of sequence and CNV data from NGS.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving and operational leadership.
• Proficiency with LIMS and genomic data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and compliance oversight for the clinical genomics laboratory; review and approve procedures and QA/QI plans.
• Evaluate and report clinical genetics and genomics cases, including carrier screening and NGS data.
• Assist in developing, validating, implementing, and maintaining laboratory procedures.
• Collaborate with UPMC and University of Pittsburgh partners on service development and business planning.
• Consult with clinicians and clients regarding test selection and result interpretation.
