We are partnering with an innovative biopharmaceutical organization seeking an experienced Director, Clinical Development Scientist to support its growing clinical development initiatives. This is a long-term, part-time contract opportunity for a strategic, hands-on clinical development professional with a strong background in rare diseases.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in clinical development strategy, protocol design, and cross-functional collaboration within a biotech or pharmaceutical environment. This individual will play a key role in shaping future clinical programs, providing scientific expertise, and supporting the successful planning and execution of clinical development activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and strategic leadership in the planning and development of clinical programs, with a focus on rare diseases.
• Lead and contribute to the development of clinical trial protocols, including study design, objectives, endpoints, and scientific rationale.
• Support clinical development strategy and provide scientific input into future clinical studies and program planning.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Biostatistics, and other key stakeholders.
• Translate clinical and scientific data into actionable recommendations that support development decisions.
• Review and contribute to key clinical and regulatory documents, ensuring scientific accuracy and alignment with program objectives.
• Identify potential clinical development challenges and proactively recommend strategic solutions.
• Provide hands-on scientific support while maintaining a broader strategic perspective across clinical programs.
• Facilitate effective communication and alignment among internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications & Experience

• Advanced degree strongly preferred: PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent scientific/clinical discipline.
• Significant experience in clinical development within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
• Rare disease therapeutic area experience strongly preferred.
• Previous experience operating at the Director or senior clinical scientist level.
• Demonstrated expertise in clinical trial protocol development, study design, and clinical development strategy.
• Strong understanding of clinical research methodology, regulatory requirements, and drug development processes.
• Proven ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience supporting clinical development programs within a sponsor-side biotech or pharmaceutical organization preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Excellent scientific communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Duration: Initial 12+ month contract with potential for extension.
• Schedule: Approximately 20-30 hours per week.
• Location: Fully remote, open to candidates throughout the United States.
