Job summary

AstraZeneca plc seeks a Director, Clinical AI Research & Evaluation to lead the scientific foundation for trustworthy, measurable AI systems in clinical development. Based in Boston, MA, you will define the research agenda, set evaluation methods, and guide a team of scientists and engineers toward regulated, scalable solutions.

You will work with Quality, Regulatory, and IT to ensure evidence meets GxP standards, publish findings, and establish governance that can be adopted across the Clinical

Qualifications

• PhD in ML, CS, HCI, stats, bioinformatics, or related field; or MD with strong research record.
• 8+ years post-PhD (or equivalent) in AI/ML research or related safety-critical domains.
• Deep expertise in evaluation methodology for AI/ML systems.
• Hands-on coding in Python/SQL for evaluation pipelines and data analysis.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and communicating with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and own scientific methodology for evaluating clinical AI systems.
• Develop human-factors methods for AI-assisted workflows and trust calibration.
• Publish findings externally to enhance credibility and attract talent.
• Lead evaluation assets, test sets, and analysis pipelines.
• Advise on evidence standards for go/no-go and regulatory readiness.
