Job summary

W. W. Norton & Company in New York, NY seeks its first Publicity Director for Norton Children’s Books and Norton Waverly. The role will plan author events, coordinate tours, pitch media, and manage publicity across imprints, with collaboration across teams.

The ideal candidate brings 6–10 years in children’s book publicity, excellent writing and communication, and a strong media contact list. Hybrid work 3 days in-office, 2 remote days is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 to 10 years of experience in book marketing, publicity, or sales.
• Love and knowledge of children’s literature.
• Strong grasp of key publicity concepts and tools including media pitching.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication and copywriting skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate strategic author events and book tours across Norton lists.
• Draft press releases and pitch national media for lead authors and events.
• Coordinate outreach to trade media and follow up for features and reviews.
• Manage the publicity budget and establish archives.
