Job summary

Alliance Defending Freedom in Lansdowne, VA seeks a Senior Counsel, Director of the Center for Free Speech to guide litigation and advocacy shaping free expression policy.

This role leads a team of attorneys, sets strategic objectives with ADF leadership, develops innovative litigation strategies against censorship, and builds coalitions with allies to advance the Center's mission.

A track record of 10+ years in law, a JD and bar admission, and strong leadership and research skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; JD, licensed to practice law in relevant jurisdiction
• 10+ years of experience in practicing law, including in a supervisory role
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Westlaw software

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee legal litigation and advocacy that advances the Center for Free Speech objectives
• Develop innovative litigation strategies to combat censorship and address AI-related free speech issues
• Execute litigation plans vigorously and supervise attorneys across matters
• Mentor and manage a team of attorneys, including training at all levels in state and federal litigation
• Build coalitions with allies and represent the Center publicly in speaking engagements and media
