Job Summary

The Catering Director is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the account to meet the customers' contract expectations. This position involves supporting operational activities at MIM and stepping in during the absence of the General Manager and Assistant Manager. The candidate should have familiarity with catering practices, approximately 3-4 years of client-facing experience in the events sector, sales expertise, and the ability to manage multiple tasks including site visits, sales, events, and contracts. Experience beyond this establishment in hotels, tourism, or convention centers is preferred to effectively engage clients and boost sales.

Compensation

The salary range is $72,000 to $78,000 annually, contingent on experience, plus a performance-based bonus and commission based on sales outcomes.

Essential Functions
  1. Coordinate all aspects of catered events from booking to execution, including client solicitation, menu planning, scheduling, contract pricing, supervising production, staffing, customer service, and billing.
  2. Meet with clients to discuss event details, tour the venue, and highlight features and services.
  3. Act as a liaison between clients and management, communicating all event needs to relevant departments.
  4. Hire, train, and supervise catering staff and line personnel to ensure efficient and friendly service.
  5. Maintain accurate records for all catered events.
  6. Ensure positive guest relations, resolving complaints efficiently.
  7. Report safety issues promptly to management.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. required; Associate's degree in business management, event planning, or related field preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience in Catering/Banquets and Food & Beverage Management; experience in hotels, tourism, or convention centers is a plus.
  • Caterease experience required; initial setup skills are a bonus.
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing tools.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications.
  • Organizational skills to perform under deadlines with attention to detail.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to move frequently within the venue, lift up to 50 lbs., and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to travel within the Phoenix region.
  • Ability to climb stairs and withstand temperature extremes.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential.
Equipment Used
  • Standard office equipment including computer, fax, scanner, telephone.
