Compensation: $72,000.00 USD annually, with potential to reach $78,000, plus performance bonuses and commissions based on sales.

Job Summary

The Catering Director supervises daily operations to meet contract expectations, supports front-of-house activities, and steps in during the absence of senior management. The ideal candidate has 3-4 years of client-facing experience in events, sales expertise, and familiarity with catering practices, preferably within hotels, tourism, or convention centers. Responsibilities include managing events, client engagement, sales, and collaborating with chefs.

Essential Functions
  1. Coordinate all aspects of catered events, including client solicitation, menu planning, scheduling, contract pricing, staffing, customer service, and billing.
  2. Meet with clients to plan and showcase venue features and services.
  3. Act as liaison between clients and management, communicating event needs to departments.
  4. Hire, train, and supervise catering staff for efficient service.
  5. Maintain records and ensure guest satisfaction, resolving complaints promptly.
  6. Report safety issues immediately.
Skills and Knowledge
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Associate’s degree in business management, event planning, or related field preferred.
  • 3-4 years experience in catering, banquets, or food & beverage management, with hotel, tourism, or convention center experience preferred.
  • Experience with Caterease software required.
  • Attention to detail, presentation skills, sales and marketing knowledge, safety regulations familiarity, and excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and organizational skills.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to move, lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and travel within the Phoenix area.
  • Ability to climb stairs, withstand temperature extremes, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Physical presence required at the job site.
