Georgetown University seeks a Director of the Center for Student Engagement to lead and coordinate student co-curricular involvement across campus, linking academic life with student activities.

The role oversees a department of nine full-time staff, multiple assistants, and over 250 student groups, shaping policies, leadership development, and risk-management across curricular and co-curricular programs.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs, human development, counseling or related discipline
• Minimum of 10 years of full-time, professional experience working with student organizations, student programs, college student leadership development or related functional area
• Familiarity with contemporary understanding of post-secondary student formation, development, and growth, particularly with regard to intersectional identity development and the value of on-campus engagement
• Familiarity and facility working with students as an advisor, supervisor, mentor, supporter, and educator
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders on a broad range of projects
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Advanced or terminal degree in a discipline related to student development, leadership development, human development, or higher education; a terminal degree may substitute for three years of professional work experience
• Understanding of the mission, vision, and context of Jesuit and Catholic higher education, particularly with regard to contextual influence on student formation

Responsibilities

• The Director provides strategic leadership and management of a department of nine full-time program staff members, three part-time graduate assistants, and several student staff members.
• The Director convenes groups of peers and staff across the university to coordinate and standardize student engagement strategies across schools, departments and programs, in both curricular and co-curricular units.
• The Director is responsible for overseeing budgets, operations, administrative management, and assessment of a wide variety of student-engagement programs.
• The Director must establish clear standard procedures and policies and also develop a staff with maximum ability to exercise independent thinking and judgment.
• This position reports to the Senior Associate Vice President for Student Engagement and works with multiple directors to align campus life programs.
