Saks Fifth Avenue is seeking a Director of Business Systems to lead and optimize applications for Finance, HR, and Payroll. Role Summary:
The Director of Business Systems is responsible for providing leadership, solutioning, and oversight within a team that supports the organization’s portfolio of applications for the Finance, HR, and Payroll teams. Initially, this role will focus on Payroll, Employee Expenses, Commissions, Workday Security, and Integrations. The Director will partner with business stakeholders to understand their needs and opportunities, translating these into technical solutions aligned with the strategy of Saks Global to optimize and streamline processes. This role will oversee the management of analyst and development resources, driving continuous optimization of technology while
also providing production support to ensure smooth business operations.
Key Qualifications:
Required Qualifications (Minimum Requirements):
● 8–12+ years of experience in business systems, enterprise applications, or IT program management
● 4–6+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, preferably overseeing cross-functional teams (including offshore or hybrid teams)
● Proven experience with enterprise platforms like Workday, SAP, Oracle, etc., especially in HR, Finance, Payroll, or Commissions domains
● Experience managing integrations, system upgrades, and application lifecycle management
● Experience managing cross-functional, global, or matrixed teams including offshore resources
● Deep understanding of system architectures, data integrations, and application support
● Hands-on experience with enterprise SaaS applications and system integration tools
● Familiarity with security and compliance in HR/Finance/Payroll systems
● Ability to translate business needs into functional and technical requirements
● Strong leadership and team management capabilities, including mentoring and performance management
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to partner effectively with stakeholders at all levels
● Proven ability to drive change, prioritize initiatives, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
● Experience with Agile, Scrum, or traditional project management methodologies
● Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process optimization skills
Preferred Qualifications (nice to haves):
● Certifications in Workday (e.g., Workday Pro), PMP, Six Sigma, or Agile/Scrum methodologies
● Demonstrated ability to build and execute a systems strategy aligned with business objectives
● Experience influencing senior level stakeholders and participating in strategic planning sessions
● Proven ability to manage third-party vendors and service providers
Role Description:
● Partner with business leaders in Payroll, Employee Expenses, and Commissions to understand key challenges and develop strategic roadmaps that address business needs
● Present strategies and future-state visions to senior leadership, including the C-suite, and drive alignment and buy-in for initiatives aimed at optimizing processes and systems
● Develop and execute an integration strategy to streamline and enhance data flow across business systems
● Manage the Workday integration portfolio and lead a team responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and enhancing integrations
● Develop and execute a Workday Security strategy that will drive efficiency in Workday role development and assignment
● Lead a team of onshore and offshore resources to deliver enhancements, support large-scale initiatives, and resolve production system issues
● Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of business systems related to Integrations, Commissions, Employee Expenses, and Payroll, ensuring seamless operations and peak performance
● Provide production support for business processes and system integrations, including proactive monitoring and issue resolution
● Lead technical projects in the Commissions and Payroll domains, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure efficient, end-to-end system performance
● Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, vendors, and service providers
