The Peralta Community College District is hiring for three (3) Director, Business Services positions. The positions will be located at College of Alameda, Berkeley City College, and Oakland City College. While the District will consider your preferred placement, final placement will be based on the needs of the District and the positions available at the time of appointment.
Under general direction, performs a variety of responsible duties related to the financial management of a campus; plans, organizes, and directs the programs, operation and activities of administrative services including the functions of fiscal management, budgeting, facilities maintenance, emergency preparedness, bursar operations, bookstore; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plans, organizes, and directs the programs, operations, and activities for the department, including campus safety, budgeting, fiscal management, facilities planning, and other campus support functions.
- Serves as liaison for the District Service Center for facilities and administrative services.
- Works collaboratively with college administrators and staff to develop and administer the college budget in alignment with District policies and procedures.
- Provides leadership in the development of budget proposals and allocation processes; prepares, monitors, and controls the college operating budget.
- Manages a variety of funds and accounts, including general, categorical, and grant-funded programs.
- Reviews financial transactions and records to ensure accuracy, solvency, and conformance with generally accepted accounting principles, District policies, and contract requirements.
- Directs and maintains accounting and reporting systems to ensure the effective monitoring and control of fiscal operations.
- Analyzes and recommends improvements to fiscal procedures to enhance operational efficiency and accountability.
- Oversees cash handling and collection activities in accordance with established District policies and procedures.
- Directs the collection, accounting, of tuition, fees, bookstore revenue payments, and deposits.
- Performs fiscal and operational analyses to support strategic planning, including financial performance, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Prepares financial and enrollment projections and related analytical reports.
- Develops and implements plans to improve and restructure operations and programs as appropriate.
- Provides leadership and technical support to campus personnel in designing and implementing efficient business processes.
- Develops and communicates campus safety procedures in consultation with staff.
- Participates in safety and threat assessment committees and assists in coordinating emergency preparedness drills and related activities.
- Serves as liaison to the District Service Center and the Division of Administrative Services.
- Coordinates the use of college facilities and oversees the processing of facilities-relatedcontracts.
- Supervises the maintenance, inventory control, and management of college equipment and property.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business or finance
- Three (3) years of comprehensive and increasingly responsible management or supervisory experience in business or finance administration or a related field.
- Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, staff, and community.
Desirable Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business, accounting or a related field,
- A Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) license.

- Methods and techniques of financial, operational, enrollment, and productivity analysis.
- Principles and practices of facilities planning, property and inventory management, and facilities-related contracting.
- Principles and practices of supervision, training, performance evaluation, and employee development.
- Modern office practices, business technology, Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, and spreadsheet applications used to support administrative and fiscal operations.
Ability to:
- Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate comprehensive campus administrative and fiscal operations.
- Develop, administer, monitor, and control complex operating budgets and make appropriate recommendations regarding resource allocation.
- Analyze financial and operational data, identify trends and variances, and develop projections, reports, and recommendations.
- Interpret and apply laws, regulations, District policies, procedures, contracts, and funding requirements affecting campus operations.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and appropriate control of financial transactions, records, accounts, and reporting systems.
- Manage and monitor multiple funding sources, including general, categorical, grant, and restricted funds.
- Identify operational issues and develop and implement effective solutions, process improvements, and organizational changes.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls and administrative procedures.
- Coordinate effectively with District offices, college administrators, faculty, staff, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate complex financial, operational, and administrative information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion in addressing sensitive financial, operational, personnel, and safety matters.
- Supervise, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel and promote effective teamwork and customer service.
- Coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports, analyses, recommendations, and presentations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of organizational responsibility.
