Summary: The Director, Business Performance is a senior Finance Operations leader reporting to the SVP Finance Operations. The role leads the enterprise Business Performance capability across Clinical, Commercial and Development & Manufacturing, connecting financial and operational insight to decisions, actions and measurable value creation. The Business Performance team is one of two complementary engines within Finance Operations. Segment Finance owns business relationships and segment outcomes; Business Performance provides enterprise capabilities, common methodologies and specialist expertise across business planning and analysis, margin and continuous improvement, and capital and cash performance.

The Director leads the specialist team, including the Senior Manager, NPI & Strategic Initiatives, deploys resources against enterprise priorities and partners closely with Segment Finance Leads, Site Finance Directors and Corporate FP&A. Success is reflected in stronger performance visibility, clearer accountability and sustained improvement in margin, cash, capital effectiveness and strategic-program value realization.

Core Accountabilities

Operations Performance, Planning & Analysis (35%) Lead Finance Operations' contribution to the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, monthly outlooks and support long-range planning processes in partnership with Segment Finance and Corporate FP&A. Drive the segment performance review process, partnering with Segment Finance Leads to evaluate business performance, identify risks and opportunities, define actions and monitor execution. Establish common planning methodologies, analytical standards, performance frameworks and EBITDA bridge methodologies across all business segments. Consolidate and challenge key assumptions, financial outlooks, risks and opportunities, ensuring leadership has clear visibility into business performance and emerging issues. Connect financial, operational and commercial performance drivers across segments and identify enterprise-wide opportunities to improve performance. Provide decision support, scenario analyses and executive insights for resource allocation, strategic priorities and value-creation initiatives, including oversight of NPI and major strategic programs through the Senior Manager, NPI & Strategic Initiatives. Maintain a clear interface with Corporate FP&A, ensuring Finance Operations provides operational insight and business challenge while Corporate FP&A retains ownership of enterprise consolidation, planning governance and executive financial communication. Focus: Drive a performance-oriented planning and review process that translates insights into actions, accountability and improved business results.

Margin, Cost & Continuous Improvement Performance

(25%) Drive transparency of customer, product, program, service-line and site profitability across all business segments. Establish and continuously improve costing methodologies, profitability analytics and contribution margin reporting. Identify margin leakage, profitability risks and cost-improvement opportunities across customers, operations and business units. Track and validate the financial impact of continuous improvement initiatives, including procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, operational excellence and indirect spend programs. Partner with Commercial, Operations, Procurement and Segment Finance to improve pricing, profitability and margin performance. Focus: Understand where PCI earns, loses and creates value, and ensure improvement initiatives translate into measurable financial results.

Capital, Cash & Investment Performance

(20%) Maintain enterprise-wide visibility of approved capital projects, including approved spend, forecast spend, cash deployment timing and benefits realization. Monitor capital expenditures against approved business cases, budgets and investment authorizations, highlighting risks, delays and variances. Provide Finance Operations input into capital spending forecasts and cash deployment assumptions across all business segments. Drive visibility and performance management of net working capital, including Accounts Receivable, Inventory and Accounts Payable. Identify opportunities to improve cash conversion, working capital efficiency and return on invested capital. Support post-investment reviews and ensure expected financial benefits are measured, validated and communicated. Focus: Improve capital allocation, capital-spending discipline, working-capital performance and return on investment.

Capability, Talent & Operating Model

(20%) Lead and develop the Business Performance team, including Operations Planning & Analysis, CI and margin, capital and cash, and NPI & Strategic Initiatives capabilities. Establish practical methodologies, standards, tools and quality expectations across Finance Operations. Maintain one shared performance agenda across specialist teams and Segment Finance, avoiding parallel or disconnected structures. Build capability through rotation, buddying, knowledge sharing and succession development. Advance reporting automation, data quality and analytical tools with Corporate FP&A, BPO and IT. Act as a trusted adviser to the SVP Finance Operations and represent the function when required.

Measures of Success

Improved transparency and decision quality across all segments. Measurable delivery of margin, working-capital and capital-effectiveness priorities. Consistent performance methodologies and disciplined follow-through on actions. Strong partnership among Business Performance, Segment Finance and Corporate FP&A. A scalable team with deeper capability, stronger succession and reduced key-person dependency.

Professional Experience & Qualifications

Required 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership in business performance, operational finance, FP&A, finance transformation or a comparable discipline. Demonstrated success leading teams & capabilities in a publicly listed company with an international, matrixed organization. Strong knowledge of manufacturing economics, profitability, operational value drivers, working capital and capital investment. Experience influencing senior Finance, Operations and Commercial stakeholders and translating analysis into measurable action. Strong forecasting, scenario analysis, business-case and executive-communication capability. Preferred Experience in a pharmaceutical CDMO, life sciences or complex manufacturing environment. Experience in a private equity-backed, transformation or IPO-readiness environment. Experience building finance capabilities, common methodologies, specialist teams or rotational talent models. Strong understanding of planning, consolidation, ERP, BI and reporting environments, including OneStream or comparable platforms.

Leadership Profile

Enterprise leader: sets direction, creates alignment and balances common standards with segment needs. Performance driver: links insight to decisions, ownership and measurable outcomes. Capability builder: develops people, specialist depth, scalable methods and succession. Trusted partner: constructively challenges assumptions and communicates with clarity, maturity and executive presence.
