Build Relationships. Win Business. Growth the Platform.
This is a minimum qualification, not a preferred qualification.
To be considered, applicants must have professional experience:
- Personally sourcing and developing new third-party multifamily management opportunities
- Building relationships with multifamily owners, investors, developers, and/or institutional clients
- Participating in or leading proposals, pitches, negotiations, and closing of property management agreements
- Demonstrating measurable success growing units under management and/or management-fee revenue
Experience in onsite property management, regional operations, leasing, real estate sales, brokerage, vendor sales, staffing, general B2B sales, or multifamily operations alone does NOT satisfy this requirement.
Applicants who cannot demonstrate direct experience winning third-party multifamily property management assignments will not be considered for this position.
The Legacy Company is a boutique multifamily property management firm seeking a proven third-party multifamily business development professional to drive portfolio expansion through the origination and closing of new fee-management.
This role requires an established track record of personally sourcing, pursuing, and closing third-party multifamily property management agreements with multifamily owners, investors, developers, and/or institutional clients.
This is not an entry-level business development role, brokerage position, acquisitions role, or general sales position. Candidates must be able to demonstrate prior success winning thirdparty multifamily management assignments and growing units under management and management-fee revenue.
You will work directly with leadership and have the opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping the next stage of the company's expansion.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Build the Pipeline
- Proactively source new third-party multifamily management opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with multifamily owners, investors, developers, brokers, lenders, equity partners, and other industry decision-makers.
- Leverage existing industry relationships while continuously expanding the company's network and market presence.
- Identify acquisition, development, repositioning, and management-transition opportunities where our platform can add value.
- Win New Business
- Lead prospective clients through the full business development cycle—from initial conversation through executed management agreement.
- Develop compelling proposals, presentations, management plans, fee structures, and responses to RFPs.
- Participate in property evaluations, market reviews, due diligence, underwriting discussions, and management pitches.
- Clearly articulate our operating strategy and demonstrate how strong property management translates into stronger asset performance.
- Negotiate management agreements and help transition newly awarded properties into operations.
Represent the Company
- Serve as a visible ambassador within the multifamily industry.
- Leverage and expand your existing multifamily network through owner relationships, industry conferences, networking events, property tours, referral sources, and industry organizations.
- Develop long‑term relationships rather than simply chasing individual transactions.
- Build a reputation and network that consistently creates new opportunities for the company.
- Partner With Operations
- Work closely with leadership, operations, accounting, marketing, and onsite teams to ensure new opportunities are operationally and financially sound.
- Help evaluate prospective assignments based on market conditions, asset performance, operational complexity, fee potential, and strategic fit.
- Ensure a strong handoff from business development to onboarding and operations after an award.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
This position is built around results—not activity.
Success will be measured through:
- Qualified opportunities converted into executed management agreements, units added under management, and management‑fee revenue generated.
- Supporting KPIs include qualified pipeline growth, new owner relationships, proposal activity, conversion rates, and referral development.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- You understand that successful multifamily business development is built on credibility, relationships, persistence, financial understanding, and execution.
- The ideal candidate brings:
- REQUIRED: 3+ years of direct business development experience originating third-party multifamily fee‑management business for a property management company.
- Candidates with limited experience to brokerage, acquisitions, development, multifamily vendor sales, SaaS/PropTech sales, residential leasing, or general B2B sales do not satisfy the required experience for this position.
- Must have a demonstrated track record of originating/closing fee management business, not supporting the sales process. Must be able to discuss specific management assignments personally sourced and won, including number of properties/units added, management‑fee revenue generated, client type.
- Established relationships with multifamily owners, investors, developers, family offices, institutional groups, brokers, lenders, and other industry decision‑makers capable of generating management opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop a qualified pipeline rather than companygenerated leads.
- Experience managing the full fee‑management business development cycle: prospecting → relationship development → proposal/RFP → management presentation → fee negotiation → management agreement → transition/onboarding.
- Understanding of multifamily operations and financial performance.
- Executive‑level communication, presentation, relationship‑building, and negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of Yardi and/or comparable propware.
- A self‑directed, entrepreneurial approach with a strong sense of urgency and personal accountability.
THIS ROLE IS PROBABLY FOR YOU IF...
You’ve already won multiple new fee management deals for a multifamily management company
You know decision‑makers, how to find new ones and how to get in front of them.
You enjoy developing relationships before there is an immediate deal on the table.
You can walk a property, review financials, understand the operational story behind the numbers, and then sit across the table from an owner and explain how your management platform can create value.
And you don't need someone handing you a list of prospects to build a pipeline.
WHY JOIN US?
- We're intentionally building a nimble, entrepreneurial management platform where the person responsible for management expansion has direct access to leadership and the ability to influence strategy.
- You won't be buried beneath layers of corporate approvals or limited to one narrow piece of the sales process.
- For the right person, this is an opportunity to build—not simply inherit—a growth platform.
