Job summary

Vertex is seeking an accomplished Director of Biostatistics to independently perform advanced statistical functions in support of Global Medicines Development and Affairs. You will lead projects, manage a team, and contribute strategically to regulatory interactions and study design.

The role emphasizes expertise in SAS/R, advanced statistical methods, and strong communication across cross-functional teams, with hybrid/on-site flexibility and a focus on delivering outcomes for patients.

Qualifications

• Ph. D. or master’s degree in Statistics or Biostatistics.
• Typically requires 10 years of experience with a Ph.D. or 13 years of experience with a master’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Directs one or more projects including multiple clinical trials, observational studies, or real world data investigations.
• Manages a team of direct reports including performance and development.
• Represents Biostatistics in cross functional teams and sets technical directions.
• Authors SAPs, xFDR plan, KRM, and DDP to disseminate study data/results.
• Leads collaboration with statistical programming to ensure high-quality TFLs.
• Leads external interactions with regulators, payers, and review boards.
• Authors or co-authors methodological or study-related publications and posters.
• Leads implementation of innovative designs and analysis methods at study/project level.
