Job summary

WHOOP seeks a Director of Battery Technology to lead the Battery Technology organization, shaping the team and technical direction for current and future WHOOP products.

You will set the multi-year roadmap, partner across Hardware, Product, Operations, and Supply Chain, and build relationships with cell manufacturers to position WHOOP at the forefront of battery innovation. This role is based in Boston with possible relocation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in battery tech or related hardware engineering with leadership experience.
• Deep expertise in lithium-ion cell chemistry, design, safety, and manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of battery systems, pack architectures, charging, and validation.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead Battery Technology organization across engineering teams in US and China.
• Define and drive multi-year battery technology roadmap for cell chemistry, architecture, safety, and performance.
• Own development from exploration through design, validation, and manufacturing ramp.
• Build strategic relationships with cell manufacturers and partners to influence roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Hardware, Product, Operations, and Supply Chain on system-level decisions and tradeoffs.
• Develop leaders, processes, and infrastructure to scale the organization.
