Job summary

The Athletics are seeking a strategic and experienced Director, Baseball Communications to lead the Club's baseball communications efforts. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications, this role partners with Baseball Operations, players, coaches and leadership to elevate the organization’s storytelling and brand.

Based in Las Vegas, NV, the position requires frequent travel to Sacramento for home games in 2027 and to other baseball events throughout the season.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
  • Seven+ years in communications/media relations, preferably in major league sports.
  • AP style writing and editing with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience advising senior executives on strategic communications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead baseball communications and media relations for the Athletics.
  • Serve as primary contact for Baseball Operations, players, coaches, and leadership.
  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Build relationships with local, national and international media.
  • Pitch compelling storylines with proactive storytelling.
  • Prepare executives and players for media interviews and events.
