Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Education seeks an experienced scholar-administrator to direct its relaunched BA in Elementary Education. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor, with a primary faculty role and a secondary administrative role as Director.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in teacher education or a closely related field.
  • Recent professional experience in undergraduate and/or graduate elementary teacher education.
  • Experience in program leadership and collaboration with licensure and accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead the Elementary Education program, coordinating operations and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with faculty on curricular and co-curricular improvements; update courses as needed.
  • Assist with admissions, review applications, and manage student enrollment.
  • Coordinate course scheduling and staffing; teach courses as needed.
  • Hire and manage supervisors and supervise student interns.
  • Coordinate internships and placements with School of Education staff.
  • Track student progress from application to graduation and support persistence.
  • Coordinate licensure matters and accreditation activities with relevant leaders.
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with local K-12 schools and districts.
