Job summary

Akerman LLP seeks a Director of Attorney Professional Development to own the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of firmwide PD for all attorneys, from junior associates to equity partners. You will lead programming that strengthens legal skills, leadership, business development, and AI fluency, in close partnership with PD Council and firm leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in professional development, training, or talent development in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Experience designing and delivering professional development for senior professionals (partners/execs).
• Track record of measurable behavioral change, not just completion metrics.
• Familiarity with AI/tech in development curricula; integrating technology content is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver professional development programming tailored to partners, of counsel, special counsel, and consultants, including leadership development, practice management, business development, and client relationship skills.
• Build programming addressing senior attorneys’ development needs, including transition to management, cross-selling, and succession planning.
• Develop executive-level facilitation approaches with peer learning, coaching, and case-based workshops.
• Coordinate with Lateral Partner Immersion Program Co-Chairs to support lateral partner hires with ongoing development.
• Design and deliver a comprehensive curriculum for junior, mid-level, and senior associates aligned with benchmarks.
