Job summary

North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services seeks a Veterinarian Supervisor to lead the Animal Health Programs/Livestock division. The role requires oversight of regulatory veterinary activities, policy development, and coordination with state and federal partners.

The Director will supervise Veterinary Medical Officers and support staff, ensuring disease prevention, control, and eradication efforts align with statutes and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a veterinary college with four years of experience in regulatory and/or clinical veterinary medicine.
• In-depth knowledge of livestock management and marketing, with experience leading disease control, eradication, and animal health programs.
• Proficient in interpreting North Carolina and federal livestock and poultry regulations, with the ability to communicate disease status and control efforts at local and national levels.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Animal Health Programs/Livestock activities as Director under the State Veterinarian.
• Plan and implement disease prevention, control, and eradication programs within state and federal guidelines.
• Coordinate with diagnostic labs, USDA-APHIS, and industry groups to advance animal health initiatives and partnerships.
