Job summary

Instructure is standing up an AI Center of Excellence and seeks a Director, AI Transformation to lead it. You will own the system that makes Instructure an AI-native company: shared infrastructure, governance, and a cross-functional roadmap.

You will partner with leaders across functions to turn AI pilots into scalable capability, define standard metrics, monitor impact, and report progress through the AI efficiency scorecard.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in technology, data, or product roles with 5+ years leading teams.
• 2+ years working directly with AI or ML systems and familiarity with modern AI tooling.
• Deep understanding of production AI infrastructure, data, security, and model registries.
• Strong governance instincts for security, privacy, and quality.
• Proven ability to influence across an organization and build coalitions.
• Clear metrics mindset and honest progress reporting.
• Experience building enablement/training programs and strong communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; advanced degree a plus.

Responsibilities

• Builds and runs shared AI infrastructure, integrations, data boundaries, and a standard AI stack.
• Charters and runs the governance council with security, privacy, and quality controls.
• Sets AI COE priorities and owns the roadmap.
• Defines metrics for cost, throughput, and quality; reports progress via scorecard.
• Creates centralized training libraries and enablement programs with HR.
• Runs a centralized-expertise, decentralized-execution operating model.
• Hires, coaches, and grows the Center of Excellence team.
