Job summary

Pfizer is seeking a Director of Applied AI (Horizon Scanning) to identify and translate emerging AI technologies into opportunities for the U.S. Commercial organization. You will connect external AI innovation with Pfizer’s commercial strategy, guiding executive decisions and roadmap priorities.

The role requires leadership across horizon scanning, evaluation, and external partnerships, ensuring alignment with privacy, regulatory, and enterprise readiness standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in AI, technology strategy, innovation, product strategy, architecture, consulting, or related roles.
• Strong understanding of generative AI, agentic systems, machine learning, foundation models, and enterprise AI architectures.
• Experience evaluating emerging technologies and translating technical concepts into business opportunities and strategic recommendations.

Responsibilities

• U.S. Commercial AI Horizon Scanning and monitoring of evolving AI technologies, vendors, startups, and industry developments.
• Evaluate opportunities against Pfizer’s Commercial priorities, including customer engagement, marketing, and market access.
• Create repeatable evaluation frameworks for AI products, vendors, models, platforms, and partnerships.
• Develop concept papers, opportunity briefs, and strategic recommendations for senior leaders.
• Partner with Product Management, Transformation, and AI teams to shape future investment and experimentation priorities.
• Publish executive-ready insights and maintain an external AI ecosystem perspective.
