Our team spans across many teams and functions within Relativity Engineering, including our data engineering team, ML Ops team, applied science team, and product-focused feature teams for our RelOne AI suite of products.

About the Director of AI Engineering - Transform Review
The Director of AI Engineering - Transform Review will lead a team responsible for our flagship AI products, including Review Center, aiR for Review, and aiR for Privilege. This role will unify architecture and organization, aligning shared concerns related to how we build AI products, and integrate these efforts into a cohesive and innovative solution that transforms Transform Review and redefines the future of document review for the legal industry.

This leader will accelerate AI innovation at Relativity. They will collaborate closely with Product Management to understand customer needs, evaluate workflows and features that address key challenges, ensure rapid adoption, and align AI solutions with our AI principles and mission.

The Transform Review team will consist of 50+ engineers and product leaders focused on automating all aspects of Transform Review. This leader will work closely with other AI organization leaders, such as Applied Science, Data Services, Search, and other aiR product leaders, to maximize AI investments and outcomes.

Job Description and Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Represent Relativity's AI strategy and key product efforts for the flagship aiR products - Review Center, aiR for Review, and aiR for Privilege.
• Own key features, technology functions, and teams within the AI strategy; this ownership will evolve as the team grows.
• Represent Relativity at industry conferences, events, and with customers.
• Recruit and build a cross-functional AI team (front end, UX, backend, support roles) through industry outreach, networking, and partnerships.
• Lead large initiatives with clear prioritization, resource allocation, attention to detail, and effective communication to inspire the team.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, data scientists, and product managers to scale ideas from proof of concept to solutions.
• Prioritize technical investments, tech debt, and architecture improvements.
• Mentor AI engineers to promote career growth, innovation, and a culture of learning.
• Inspire with a compelling vision of how AI can transform Relativity.
• Advise leadership on innovative technologies for partnerships or acquisitions.
• Encourage innovation, data curiosity, and large-scale data use.
• Work with other AI leaders to develop a global, multi-office AI operating model.
• Develop onboarding practices to grow AI skills across North America and Poland offices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in AI/ML development, including 3-5 years in leadership roles.
• Experience building and scaling AI products, especially generative AI.
• Proficiency in leveraging data for knowledge retrieval, search, and ML/AI solutions in mission-critical environments.
• Proven ability to lead software teams and initiatives within a global organization.
• Strong leadership skills and a track record of delivering complex solutions.
• Experience with product and vendor selection and negotiation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of data science project lifecycles and techniques.
• Experience managing data quality systems.
• Experience operating in cloud environments like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficiency in modern programming languages and cloud compute environments.
• Experience in SaaS/cloud environments with distributed teams.
• Experience launching and growing new products in a dynamic industry.
• Knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and Generative AI APIs.

Compensation

Relativity offers competitive, fair, and equitable compensation, including base salary, annual bonus, and long-term incentives. The salary range is $195,000 to $293,000, based on experience, skills, and internal pay equity. The final offer will consider these factors and future salary growth potential.
