Job description

The Director, Advice Engagement & Adoption is responsible for enabling the delivery of Advice, for enhancing the client experience and improving productivity through capabilities specific to Advice. They will lead Engagement & Adoption, Dedicated Planning program, change management, and content teams within the Advice & Planning Solutions COE. In addition, this team will help integrate Advice knowledge across the organization to drive adoption of Advice.

As a critical thought leader and catalyst, the incumbent will collaborate with leaders across the Division guiding alignment of goals, execution, and integration of key initiatives to accelerate our growth and leverage visualization to drive insights and action.

The Director, Advice Engagement & Adoption owns the implementation and adoption of all Advice-related and Dedicated Planning (fee-based planning) content and processes used across Thrivent. The Director will need to have close collaboration and coordination with executive leaders, Director-level peers and legal & compliance to ensure content aligns with our organizational and compliance requirement and consistent content is used across channels.

The Director, Advice Engagement & Adoption will lead implementation & adoption of the Dedicated Planning Program process and performance including marketing the program to financial advisors, increasing the number of advisors and frequency of use of the program to provide financial planning to clients driving revenue.

This can be a remote position within the US.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design of all Advice content to drive a consistent client and advisor experience across Thrivent. Build strategic and collaborative relationships with all Thrivent COE leaders to deliver on corporate goals for client engagement and growth, as well as be a leader in financial advisory.

  • Lead a team of 6-8 employees to create a holistic perspective on how to bring Advice to clients at Thrivent, interfacing with advisors, field leaders, and distribution peers as a thought leader to develop new relevant and impactful content and build on existing knowledge.

  • Lead the continued development of the ‘Advice Playbook’ (knowledge base / repository of content) which will bring our Advice strategy to life throughout the enterprise, which necessitates highly collaborative relationships with both organizational leaders and financial advisors.

  • Create a process to regularly update the playbook to reflect current trends, adding additional content to address key issues (e.g., service levels) and feedback coming from financial advisors and corporate partners.

  • Own the primary relationship between Advice strategy, content development, delivery, program, legal and other related teams, keeping all parties aligned on a uniform Advice methodology .

  • Develop and implement change management strategies and plan including assessing the impact to the organization and identifying potential risks and opportunities.

  • Ensures successful implementation of organizational change management, using Thrivent’s methodology and tools to develop a robust change communication strategy. Communicates data and metrics to assess the readiness and impacts of change to the organization.

  • Proactively anticipate and resolve Advice content roadblocks, building consensus across disparate functional areas to support departmental goals/objectives.

  • Acts as a change champion and culture steward in support of transformation efforts to drive faster adoption, higher utilization of and, proficiency with the changes impacting employees across the Distribution Division.

  • Partners with key audiences and stakeholders, in a matrixed organization, to influence and execute the Distribution Division key initiatives and strategic priorities framework.

  • Work closely with Legal and Compliance to ensure Advice content meets compliance requirements at all times .

  • Track progress/milestones, making sure all advice content provides a comprehensive perspective on Thrivent’s Advice methodology and reflects the latest strategy on Advice.

  • Work alongside Marketing, Insights, Brand, and Program teams to co-create engaging and consistent Advice related communications for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Determine and drive team toward deadlines for introducing/updating all Advice content, balancing competing demands from various internal teams and other COEs.

  • Recruit, develop, and sustain a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.

  • Establish and lead a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to drive efficiency and effectiveness in support of a best-in-class customer experience.

  • Serve as a coach and mentor to content team, incorporating best practices and the use of formal career development plans.

  • Demonstrate a high-level of collaboration with key stakeholders across Thrivent.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications , Business, Economics, or similar field.

  • 10+ years of Financial Services experience .

  • Demonstrated Expertise in Advice knowledge and principles.

  • Experienced People Leader: Proven ability to attract, develop and lead a high performing and engaged team.

  • Ability to attract, develop and lead a high performing team through change – while fostering a culture of shared accountability.

  • Experience in understanding and managing the impact of change on individuals and organizations during implementation.

  • Experience navigating complex and matrixed organizations to achieve desired results.

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills. Ability to build trusted relationships with senior business leaders.

  • Experience in managing and motivating teams through business transformation

  • Proven success directing and motivating team members, organizing project activities, and scheduling and monitoring assignments.

  • Demonstratable experience in communications planning and organization.

  • Ability to thrive under pressure while multitasking, adhering to sometimes tight deadlines while maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues.

  • Excellent human relations skills, tact, good listening and consulting skills, and exceptional customer service mindset.

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously and multi-task with an agile mindset.

  • Subject matter expertise in financial planning and the advisory working model.

  • Passionate about the value of providing advice to clients, with an in-depth knowledge of insurance products, asset/wealth management, fee-based planning, mutual funds and securities.

Preferred:

  • MBA, Master’s degree in related work and or CFP.

  • PROSCI Change Certification.

  • Series 6, 63, 7 and/or 24.

  • Experience collaborating with partners to create advice and planning content and collateral to enhance the client and advisor experience.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $158,271.00 - $214,132.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions.
