Job summary

Apogee Enterprises, Inc. in Faribault seeks a Director of R&D & Advanced Technologies to lead our Faribault R&D organization and advance surface technologies.

You will apply deep expertise in PVD sputtering and PECVD/plasma processes, personally directing high-priority development and scaling into manufacturing. You will set R&D priorities, manage the technology portfolio, mentor scientists, and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and customers to deliver value and drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.
• Advanced technical degree preferred.
• Progressive R&D, technology-development, or coatings experience.

Responsibilities

• Hands-On Technology Development: lead priority programs from experimentation through manufacturing implementation.
• R&D Leadership and Portfolio Management: set priorities, manage development portfolio, align with business needs.
• Commercialization and Customer Partnership: translate customer needs into tech roadmaps and partner with operations to scale.
• Talent and Technical Capability: coach scientists and engineers; build coating/deposition capability.
• Operational Leadership: manage budgets, establish milestones, improve R&D productivity.
