Job summary

Acturhire seeks a Director - Actuarial in the United States for a senior leadership role focused on healthcare analytics and strategic advisory for employers, insurers, and providers. The role blends actuarial analysis with client leadership, pricing, forecasting, and risk management in a fully remote setup.

You will mentor actuarial professionals, shape practice capabilities, and lead complex engagements with executive stakeholders across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, data science, economics, or a related field.
  • FSA strongly preferred; ASA candidates with significant senior-level experience may also be considered.
  • 12+ years of healthcare actuarial experience across commercial healthcare, stop-loss, health and welfare consulting, pricing, reserving, and related areas.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, SAS, VBA, R, Python, or similar analytical technologies.
  • Strong analytical and leadership capabilities with ability to advise senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading projects, managing client relationships, and driving initiatives through completion.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

This is a senior actuarial leadership opportunity focused on delivering strategic insights across complex healthcare initiatives. You will serve as a trusted advisor to large employers, insurers, healthcare providers, and care solution organizations. The role combines advanced actuarial analysis with client leadership, strategic consulting, and the development of innovative analytical solutions. You will influence decisions related to financial strategy, product design, pricing, reserving, forecasting, and risk management. As a senior contributor, you will also mentor actuarial professionals and help shape the growth and capabilities of the broader practice. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact engagements at the intersection of healthcare, analytics, and business strategy.

Accountabilities:

You will lead complex actuarial engagements, oversee sophisticated analytical work, and provide strategic guidance to clients and internal teams.

  • Serve as the primary actuarial advisor for complex healthcare initiatives and build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines extensive healthcare actuarial expertise with strong analytical, leadership, communication, and client advisory capabilities.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain sophisticated actuarial concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects, managing client relationships, and advising senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive strategic initiatives through completion.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a commitment to developing actuarial talent.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging healthcare trends and translate them into practical actuarial and business strategies.
