The Director of theCollege of Business' Delaware Center for EnterpriseDevelopmentiscommittedtofocusing on building sustainable communities, providing opportunities, and creating measurable impact by connecting entrepreneurs with opportunities to launch, grow, and sustain their businesses.
Essential Functions
- Develop and cultivate entrepreneurial leadership and innovation skills for the University, community and external stakeholders through training programs, technical and managerial assistance, providing access to capital and co-curricular activities.
- Provides specialized classes and workshops for small business owner which includes offering one-on-one technical assistance to entrepreneurs as well as manage The Garage.
- Develops relationships with public and private/corporatesector, community-based, faith-based, and social service organizations within the community to further collaborativeinitiatives.
- Monitors and measures the overall successes of program and program participants.
- Determines types and levels of services to be provided and standards by which delivery will be evaluated.
- Analyzes situations accurately and adopts effective courses ofaction; Selects, assigns, directs, and evaluates the performance of direct reports; oversees staff professional development and training programs.
- Develop and implement a funding strategy related to program objectives.
- Performs other duties/special projects assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge offederal, state, and local publicsocial services programs and supporting legislation including the operations of local government.
- Skilled in principles and practices of performance measurement and process improvement.
- Knowledge of the principles of public, private, and corporate sector funding
- Experienced in public relations with a clear understanding of community needs and resources.
- Skilled in conflict resolution and the principles and practices of organizational development.
- Ability to use we band multi-media technologies for communication and tracking (Microsoft Office applications, Internet, WebEx, etc.).
- Proven ability to beflexible in dealing with unforeseen circumstances and acommitment towork evenings or weekends when needed.
- Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Skilled in staff leadership and supervision.
- Initiative-takerwhoiscomfortableworking autonomously.
- Willingnesstotravelas needed.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Advance entrepreneurial certifications preferred.
- Three to five years of significant and responsible program management.
- Experience in grant writing and contract administration is preferred.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
- Experience working within a fast-paced, diverse, and challenging environment preferred.
- Excellent judgment in high-profile and high-pressure environments.
- Excellent written, listening, and oral communication skills.
