Job summary

Kline Electric Inc. seeks a Directional Drill Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy equipment and support vehicles for underground utility installation.

You may handle HDD drills, hydrovac units, mini excavators, and more, coordinating with the Foreman and field crew to deliver quality work with minimal disruption. Responsibilities include trenching, bore profiles review, inspections, and routine maintenance.

Qualifications

• HDD training/experience or equivalent on underground drilling projects.
• CDL as required, with endorsements based on assignment.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Reliable transportation to multiple work locations.
• Experience with construction/underground utility equipment is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and ability to stay insurable.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment including drills, hydrovac, excavators, loaders, and trucks.
• Perform underground installation, daylighting, trenching, and pullback activities.
• Review locates, bore plans, and site conditions to identify hazards and ensure accuracy.
• Complete inspections, preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Report defects, unsafe conditions, incidents, and repair needs promptly.
• Assist with jobsite setup, traffic control, and restoration tasks as needed.
• Follow OSHA requirements and PPE policies; maintain safety and professional conduct.
• Communicate progress, delays, hazards, and equipment concerns to Foreman and crew.
• Train and mentor less-experienced workers when directed.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively.
