Job summary

Visuna is seeking Senior Field Engineers to deliver onshore directional drilling services in Alaska. The role emphasizes safety leadership, technical expertise, and collaboration with clients and rig teams to achieve precise well placement and optimal performance.

Ideal candidates will have extensive directional drilling experience, familiarity with MWD, and a proven ability to mentor field personnel in challenging Arctic environments.

Qualifications

• Senior Field Engineer with directional drilling experience.
• Experience in remote/arctic environments preferred.
• Strong safety leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute complex Directional Drilling and ERD operations with precise well placement.
• Perform anti-collision monitoring and survey management to maintain wellbore integrity and minimize risks.
• Optimize drilling performance using motor drilling technologies and rotary steerable systems; provide real-time recommendations.
• Collaborate with customers, engineers, MWD personnel, and rig teams to deliver safe, high-quality services and strong client relationships.
• Support operations in remote and challenging environments, leveraging Arctic drilling experience to enhance decision-making and performance.

Job description

Our Client in The USA is looking for Directional Drilling Engineers to work onshore in Alaska.

This is on a W2 basis (OT applicable after 40hrs)

Senior Field Engineer – DD is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable Directional Drilling services to customers while ensuring operational excellence and superior service quality. The role provides technical leadership during complex drilling operations, utilizing advanced directional drilling expertise to achieve well objectives safely and efficiently. The successful candidate demonstrates strong safety leadership, customer focus, problem‑solving skills, effective communication, teamwork, continuous improvement mindset, and a commitment to mentoring and developing field personnel.

• Lead and execute complex Directional Drilling and Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) operations, ensuring accurate well placement, trajectory control, and achievement of drilling objectives.
• Perform anti-collision monitoring and survey management, maintaining wellbore separation integrity and minimizing operational risks throughout all phases of drilling.
• Optimize drilling performance through the application of motor drilling technologies and Push-the-Bit / Point-the-Bit rotary steerable systems, providing real-time recommendations and technical support.
• Collaborate closely with customers, engineers, MWD personnel, and rig teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality services while maintaining strong communication and customer relationships.
• Support operations in remote and challenging environments, leveraging Arctic drilling experience (preferred) and MWD expertise or advanced MWD knowledge (preferred) to enhance decision‑making, operational performance, and service delivery.
