Job summary

Doug's Underground Service, a MPS Group, Inc. Company, seeks an experienced Directional Drill Operator to join our Traverse City team. You will operate and oversee directional drilling for underground utilities with emphasis on safety and precision.

Candidates should have at least two years in directional drilling, read blueprints, and be able to work independently and with the crew. OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain it is preferred; CDL Class A is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in directional drilling.
• Ability to read and interpret project plans and maps.
• Familiarity with drilling equipment and safety protocols.
• OSHA 10 certification and Operator Qualifications (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Operate and oversee directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities with precision and accuracy.
• Perform drill set-up and ensure proper operation of directional bore/drill equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during drilling operations.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate drilling locations and effective installation.
• Follow project specifications and work diligently to avoid obstructions and damage to existing underground infrastructure.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of drilling equipment to maintain optimal performance.
• Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed on-site to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist with construction cleanup and other job-site tasks as needed.
• Participate in trench and manhole operations as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with the team.
