Job summary

Motion Recruitment in Hampton, VA is seeking a Directional Drill Operator / Locator to support underground utility construction. You will operate bore equipment and assist field crews on active projects.

Required are CDL-A preferred, DOT readiness, ability to read blueprints, solid teamwork, and willingness to travel. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; this is a direct-hire role with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL-A preferred and DOT qualifications completed.
• Experience with underground utility installations and reading blueprints.
• Ability to communicate with teammates and follow instructions.
• Willingness to travel and work on-site in various locations.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate directional bore equipment for underground utility construction.
• Assist foreman and supervisors with duties in the field.
• Operate trenchers, plows, backhoes, and bobcats as needed.
• Use tampers, jackhammers, drills, and saws when required.
• Work in the field with crews to complete projects.

Directional Drill Operator / Locator

Direct Hire only

Location: 605 Industry Dr., Hampton, VA 23661

Proficient in BOTH operating and locating HDD equipment, and also holds & maintains a class A CDL license w/ a tanker endorsement. Also capable of performing manual labor tasks to support our work (cable pulling, testholing, restoration, etc.)

Equipment models: JT-10, JT-20, JT-24

Responsibilities

• Will be responsible for operating directional bore equipment for underground utility construction
• Will be assisting foreman and/or supervisors with all duties
• Will be responsible for operating trenchers, plows, backhoes, and bobcats
• Will be required to operate tampers, jackhammers, drills, and saws when needed
• Will also work in the field with the crews completing work

Requirements & Qualifications

• Candidates that hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) highly preferred
• Meet all DOT requirements (physical and drug testing)
• Must have previous knowledge and experience of underground utility installations
• Ideal candidates will have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow job specifications and orders
• Ability to communicate with Teammates
• Willingness to work and follow directions
• Willingness to travel a plus
• Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus
