DrillTech LLC is seeking a highly motivated Directional Drill Operator to join our field team in the western region serving utility construction, optical fiber, and related installations.

The role requires a Class A CDL, experience with Vermeer or Ditch Witch HDD units, and a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and on-site collaboration with crew members.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of directional drill experience (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch).
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• MSHA and OSHA familiarity preferred for safety.
• Ability to read and interpret utility locate information.
• Experience supervising laborers/crews and monitoring time usage.
• Proficient in pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Locate utilities for HDD installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
• Operate Horizontal Directional Drill.
• Assist with potholing and remediation work.
• Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie-ins.
• Set up drilling equipment, water tanks, and grounding for the drill.
• Formulate and mix drilling mud to site conditions.
• Perform proper reaming and pull-back methods.
• Follow job specifications and company safety procedures.
• Maintain and inspect equipment; report issues daily.
• Communicate with supervisor and submit required reports (bore logs, maintenance, time logs).
• Ensure safety of personnel and public around underground utilities.

DIRECTIONAL DRILL OPERATOR
CDL Required

DrillTech LLCis looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Directional Drill Operator. DrillTech is the premier utility construction services provider in the western region providing directional drilling, plowing, trenching, spider plowing, hydro excavation, micro trenching, fast fusion, fiber optics and general underground utility construction.

POSITION SUMMARY

A Horizontal/Directional Drill Locator/ Operator is specially trained and has expertise in locating utilities for horizontal/directional drill rigs and product support equipment. This individual will be primarily responsible for setup and completion of drilling variable sized underground bore holes and pulling back required conduit/pipe. As a Directional Driller/Equipment Operator, you are responsible for running a variety of directional drilling equipment; Directional Drill, (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) Vac. Truck, Mud Truck, Excavator, Forklift, Dump truck, Locator, along with others not listed.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Locate utilities for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.

• Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and the grounding for the drill.

• Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.
• Follows specifications for the job and company policies.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Experience, minimum 5 years, operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch).
• Competent person certificates with MSHA and OSHA preferred.
• Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
• Ability to read and comprehend utility locate information.
• Oversee laborers and/or crew members work and monitor time usage.
• Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
• Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.)
• Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.

• Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.
• Attain and maintain a Valid Class A CDL License
