Job description

An independent production is seeking a seasoned Director for an upcoming feature film shooting in New York City. This is a character-driven psychological thriller with a grounded, gritty aesthetic, exploring themes of urban isolation and paranoia. We're looking for a Director who can craft nuanced performances and maintain a suspenseful, atmospheric tone throughout the narrative. Key responsibilities include guiding the creative vision, collaborating closely with the cinematographer and cast, and leading the crew through principal photography and initial post-production passes. You will be instrumental in bringing this compelling story to life. We require a strong directorial reel showcasing previous feature or high-end short film work, demonstrating experience with complex narratives and dramatic performances. Experience working within indie film budgets is a plus. While we don't have specific gear requirements for the Director, a familiarity with modern digital cinema workflows is expected. Principal photography is tentatively scheduled for about 20-25 days, spread across early November 2026 to early December 2026, with some prep starting immediately. Expect 10-12 hour days. We provide lunch, transportation to and from locations, and a dedicated production team to support your vision. This is a paid position, offering $500-800 per day, commensurate with experience. We aim to make a decision by November 29, 2026.
