Job summary

Sheppard Pratt's Development and Intellectual Disabilities Services (DDA) in Frederick, MD is seeking a full-time, Monday–Friday dayshift team member for an in-person position. You will facilitate client involvement in day program activities and support mental health and wellbeing.

With training and supervision, you will exercise independent judgment while coordinating care plans, transportation, and attendance at medical appointments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with 3 points or less and access to insured vehicle.
• Must obtain and maintain a current DOT certification.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and navigate stairs or typical day program settings.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate client participation in therapeutic and social group activities by understanding each client’s motivation.
• Implement individual client care plans and coordinate communication among staff and clients.
• Provide transportation and attend clients’ medical appointments.

Development and Intellectual Disabilities Services (DDA) at Sheppard Pratt offer programs devoted to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including supported living services. Our Supported Employment and Pathways Day Program team provides opportunities for clients to build community and social skills, as well as individual job placement and employment support.

Scheduling for this position will be flexible and based around client needs.

What to expect.

This is a direct care opportunity to facilitate client involvement in meaningful day program activities to support their overall mental health and wellbeing. With training and ongoing experience, you will exercise discretion and independent judgement with general supervision. Pay rate: $18.50/hr.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Facilitating client participation in therapeutic and social group activities by developing an understanding of what motivates them individually.
• Implementing individual client care plans to meet client needs and goals. This includes coordinating communication amongst staff working together with an assigned clients.
• Providing transportation and attending clients’ medical appointments.
