Job summary

Journey Found, Inc. seeks a Direct Support Specialist to assist individuals in group homes with daily living activities and community outings. You will support medication administration, accompany doctors’ appointments, and document program data while collaborating with nurses and supervisors.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, empathy, and teamwork. Training is provided; driving is required for transporting individuals and running errands as part of a supportive team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years driving with a valid license.
• Behavioral management experience or formal training.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (dressing, cooking, cleaning, bathing, toileting).
• Transport individuals to appointments and activities.
• Organize community outings and activities.
• Administer medications as trained.
• Attend doctors’ appointments and document data.
• Teach and engage individuals in routines.
• Deescalate situations and manage behaviors.
• Collaborate with Nurses, Clinical Staff, Directors and Supervisors.
