Easter Seals Goodwill ND, Inc. in Oakes, ND is seeking a Direct Support Professional (entry level, part-time to full-time) to assist adults and children with disabilities and their families.

The role emphasizes hands-on support, advocacy, flexibility, and teamwork, with pay $17–$19 per hour and paid training.

Qualifications

• Interest in supporting people with disabilities to achieve goals.
• Ability to work in team or alone, follow instructions, adapt to new ideas, and solve problems creatively.
• Belief that everyone can learn and grow regardless of disability.
• Age 16 or older.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support people to realize their goals and attain personal outcomes.
• Assist and support people to develop and/or maintain a social support network.
• Assist and support people to maintain or re‑establish their family connections.
• Assist and support people to maintain their home, their health, and their well‑being.
• Assist and support people to utilize their community and its resources.
• Assist and support people to direct their services and make informed choices in all aspects of their life.
• Assist and support people to have a safe environment in which to live and work, free of abuse, neglect or exploitation.
• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds on your own.
• To be an advocate for people with disabilities and to teach members of the community to treat people we support with dignity and respect by modeling positive attitudes and respectful communication and interactions.
