Job summary

Health and Joy Services (HAJS) seeks a compassionate caregiver in Washington, DC to support individuals with autism or behavioral challenges. You will follow Person-Centered and Behavior Support Plans, provide daily living assistance, and help maintain a safe, structured environment.

The role involves evening and weekend shifts (Thu 4:00 PM–12:00 AM, Fri 4:00 PM–12:00 AM, Sat 11:00 AM–8:00 PM). Applicants should have a HS diploma or GED, 1+ year experience, CPR/First Aid, and a preferred

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in Human Services preferred.
• 1 year of experience with autism or behavioral challenges.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized care aligned with Person-Centered and Behavior Support Plans.
• Maintain a calm, structured, and safe environment.
• Assist with daily living activities including meals, hygiene, and upkeep.
• Support community engagement and outings (driving preferred).
• Implement behavior support and crisis plans as trained.
• Document services, incidents, and progress accurately.
• Communicate with family, team leads, and supervisors.
• Attend required meetings and complete training.
