Job summary

Poppy's Promise in Bismarck, ND seeks a Direct Support Professional to provide 1:1 support, promote independence, and model respectful behavior in home and community settings.

You will help individuals with daily living, social activities, and problem-solving, while documenting progress and ensuring safety during shifts. Training will align with NADSP standards and emphasize advocacy and person-centered supports.

Qualifications

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
• Ability to pass background checks and screenings.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to respond to safety situations and support independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for those receiving services.
• Continually supervise individuals to ensure a safe, nurturing environment.
• Assist with basic living, personal hygiene, and grooming to promote independence.
• Accurately document activities and progress toward goals during each shift.
• Transport to activities, appointments, and social gatherings.
• Attend trainings required by Poppy's Promise and maintain certifications.
• Report potential abuse, neglect and exploitation as a mandatory reporter.
• May assist with medication administration as needed and as determined by the team.
