Job summary

Alternatives for People with Autism is seeking a Direct Support Professional to work with adults with autism in residential settings in Minnesota. The DSP will assist with daily living activities, implement programs, and help residents achieve higher quality of life.

The role requires strong communication, reliability, and a compassionate approach. Training is provided, with opportunities for growth within the nonprofit organization.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with residents, staff, and supervisors (both written and verbal).
• Ability to accept direction and instructions from supervisors.
• Able to run programs as directed, recording data and reinforcement principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with residents interactions such as daily living activities, recreational activities, community outings, administer medication, accompany clients to appointments.
• Attend meetings and inservices as requested.
• Assist appropriately in crisis situations, following program guidelines and being responsible for residents’ safety and whereabouts.
• Assist residents with maintaining a clean and healthy living environment including food preparation.
• Maintains punctuality and works the minimum number of shifts required.
• Passionate about helping others with a positive attitude.
