Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help people pursue their goals through person-centered care. You will build relationships, provide guidance and support in daily living activities, and assist with transportation in a residential setting.

The role emphasizes dignity, respect, and inclusion, with training provided and opportunities to grow within our 20+ services.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or formal education required.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Willingness to pass a DHS background check.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care and stay connected.
• Strong communication and empathy toward people served.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
• Advocate for people’s rights, needs, and preferences
• Monitor health and wellbeing and report changes as needed
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings
