Job summary

We Do Life...Together in Waterbury, CT is seeking an entry-level Direct Support Professional to help individuals lead their best lives in residential and vocational settings. You’ll assist with daily living, transportation, medical and behavioral appointments, documentation, and safe caregiving.

This part-time, first-shift role offers growth opportunities within the agency. Required: high school diploma or GED, 18+, valid driver’s license, and ability to use smartphones, tablets, and computers.

Responsibilities

• Administer medication and follow delegated duties under licensed personnel (Med Certification required).

High-Level Description

Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are an extremely important role in our company as they work directly with our individuals, ensuring they can lead their best lives and can be successful in both our Residential and Vocational settings. DSPs report to either a Residential Program Manager or Vocational Manager, depending on placement, and the role has advancement opportunities to increase responsibilities and pay.

Job Responsibilities

Individuals Direct Care/Oversight:

• Ensure the needs of the individuals are met consistently and in accordance with the individuals plan so they can live their best lives. This includes but is not limited to medical/behavioral appointments, job skills /vocational needs, daily living skills, financial, transportation, etc.
• Maintain and update individuals plans as needed in accordance with state and agency requirements
• Responsible for daily housekeeping tasks and daily upkeep of the individuals home and/ or work environment
• Provide safe transportation of individual(s). Ensure agency vehicles are maintained and required documentation is completed timely
• Administer medication and implement delegated responsibilities ordered by licensed medical personnel (Med Certification Required)

Business Partner Relationships and Communications

• Communicate regularly to the management team on individuals performance, successes, and issues
• Actively participate in the Interdisciplinary Team which is focused on the development and implementation of the Individual Plan for the individuals entrusted to our care
• Partner with other DSPs and administrative team members to share expertise and insights
• Identify and participate in projects/initiatives that contribute to long-term excellence and individuals growth
• Develop an understanding of the workings of each department that interact with individuals

Required Training and Certifications

• DDS Med Certification (within the first 6 months of employment)
• CPR
• PMT
• Human Rights and Neglect

Other Position Related Information

This position is considered essential staff and is critical towards the care of our individuals
