Job summary

Delta-T Group Virginia, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Alexandria, VA to assist with daily living activities, mobility support, nutrition, and behaviour management in a group-home setting.

You will implement behavior plans and promote independence, while maintaining a clean environment and detailed progress records. The role requires a high school diploma, CPR/First Aid certification, a valid driver's license, and willingness to provide direct care.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness and ability to provide direct care and supportive services.
• Valid Driver's License.
• CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute Certification (preferred).
• AMAP certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Help with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Assist with mobility and physical therapy exercises as needed.
• Ensure proper diet and nutrition, and assist with feeding if required.
• Follow individualized behavior support plans to address specific needs and challenges.
• Use positive reinforcement and behavioral techniques to manage and improve behavior.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
• Provide educational and recreational activities that promote personal growth and independence.
• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the group home environment.
• Assist with household chores such as cooking, laundry, and cleaning.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individuals' progress, incidents, and any changes in their condition.
• Advocate for the needs and preferences of individuals, ensuring their rights and choices are respected.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to foster a positive and supportive environment.
