Job summary

Devereux Connecticut is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help individuals with intellectual, developmental, and behavioral health disabilities reach their daily living goals. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide safe supervision, coaching, and skills development in activities such as cooking, shopping, and personal care.

Qualifications

• Be 21 years of age or older (required).
• Have a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
• Have a CT valid driver's license.
• Experience with the developmentally disabled or as a caretaker is preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be able to attend paid in-house orientation on weekdays.
• Be able to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform Safe and Positive Approaches.

Responsibilities

• Ensure our individuals are safe and healthy while attending our day program.
• Supervise, coach, and assist individuals in achieving daily living skills (food prep, cooking, cleaning, shopping).
• Supervise planning, implementation, and documentation of programs meeting social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
• Plan and participate in volunteer opportunities and outings for our individuals.

Direct Support Professional position is located in Washington, CT.

Devereux Connecticut touches the lives of children, adolescents, adults, and their families. Individuals with emotional, behavioral and cognitive disabilities, including autism, are served through a broad spectrum of treatment settings, including a Children's Step-Up/Step-Down Program, Adult Community Living Arrangements as well as a co-educational boarding and day school.
