Job summary

River Valley Behavioral Health is seeking Direct Support Professionals in staffed residences in Owensboro, KY. You will assist adults with disabilities in a home setting, help with daily activities, and support health and safety under supervision.

The role may require overnight stays and travel to Henderson area. Requirements include being 21+, a high school diploma or GED (or 1+ year relevant experience), a valid driver's license, and current or trainable First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma/GED OR at least one year of experience working with people with disabilities.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must currently possess or be able to complete first aid and CPR certification (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance in a home setting for 2-3 adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Support direct care needs including dressing, bathing, toileting, meals, and hygiene; assist with mobility and medication administration.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss person-centered service plans and health, safety, and wellbeing.
• Assist individuals to work toward individualized service goals and stay in a team setting.
• Collaborate with other staff to ensure day-to-day home operations and overnight coverage in Owensboro and Henderson areas.

Direct Support Professionals in staffed residences

• Provide assistance in a home setting for 2-3 adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Support assigned individuals’ direct care needs including getting dressed, bathing and showering, toileting and hygiene, grocery shopping, feeding, medication administration, assistance with walking and/or wheelchair mobility, preparation of meals and snacks, companionship, and facilitation of activities to increase community inclusion.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings as requested to support individuals in discussions of their person-centered service plans with regard to their health, safety, and overall wellbeing.
• Assist individuals to work toward and achieve their individualized service goals when applicable.
• Work together as a team with other staff assigned to the home to ensure the day-to-day functionality of the home under the guidance of the Assistant Residential Director.
• Be willing to work where needed in the Owensboro and Henderson service areas and stay overnight in the home.
