VOA Mid-States is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide direct care for individuals with developmental disabilities and support for low-income seniors in New Albany, Indiana. You will assist with activities of daily living, learning, and reintegration into the community.

Responsibilities include monitoring safety, providing emotional support, facilitating transportation, and participating in required trainings.

Qualifikationen

• High School diploma or GED preferred, or commensurate skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.

• Interact with consumers in a supportive and therapeutic manner and reinforce appropriate behaviors.
• Provide transportation and assist with community integration by accompanying to social activities.

• Complete assigned cleaning tasks and general maintenance to maintain a neat environment.
• Attend ongoing training programs and mandatory staff meetings.
• Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

Responsible for providing direct care, training and assistance in the various aspects of activities of daily living, self-care, leisure/recreation, developmental training, prevocational and/or vocational and is responsible for upholding consumer’s rights.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS ROLE

High School diploma or general equivalency diploma preferred, or commensurate skills. Demonstrate the ability to adequately read, write and understand the English language.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Monitor the comfort and safety of consumers served, while ensuring that the medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are being met.
2. Interact with consumers in an emotionally supportive and therapeutic manner, and practice effective techniques for reinforcing consumers’ behaviors.
3. Provide transportation and assist consumers with integration into the community by accompanying them to social and other activities of choice.
4. Perform general housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, and laundry duties.
5. Complete assigned cleaning tasks and general maintenance on a routine basis in order to maintain a neat and clean environment.
6. Participate in all required on-going training programs and attend all mandatory staff meetings.
7. Performs all duties as assigned by supervisor.
